Elaine Close

Elaine Close is an artist based in Portland Oregon. 

Elaine works in mixed media, predominantly oil paint on wood and paper. In addition to larger paintings, for over 20 years, she has been working on a series of tiny abstract paintings. The smallest of these measures 1.5 x 1.5 inches. They are made from mixed media including graphite, colored pencil, pastel, acrylic, oil, watercolor, blood, and collage.

The Wee Galleries is an installation of 5 doll houses turned into galleries to display 71 of Elaine’s smallest paintings. The largest piece is 5 x 5.5 inches.

Elaine also has an ongoing series of mixed media paintings of animals, inspired by the endless variety of weird creatures of land and water.
